What is SAT?
The SAT exam is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. The exam consists of two major sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. The exam also includes an optional essay section. Students are scored on a scale of 400-1600, with separate scores for each section.
The SAT was designed to measure a student's critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. It tests a student's ability to analyze passages of text, solve math problems, and write compelling essays.
Taking the SAT is an important part of the college application process, as it provides colleges with a standardized measure of a student's abilities. However, it is not the only factor that colleges consider when making admissions decisions.
Students typically take the SAT during their junior or senior year of high school. There are many resources available to help students prepare, such as practice exams, study guides, and tutoring services.

There are two broad sections - Reading and Writing (RW) and Math are tested in the current SAT exam which has gone digital. Both RW and Math sections are scored separately on a range of 200-800. Questions tested on the SAT exam in the digital mode are MCQ-based and for some of the math questions applicants would need to write an answer rather than select it. One of the major advantages of the new SAT pattern is that the 'no negative marking' system still continues. SAT exam pattern 2023 has witnessed a couple of changes like the overall SAT exam timing has reduced, the use of calculators has been permitted for all Math questions and there is just one consolidated Reading & Writing Section.
